The building’s unique design – from its rainwater-catching sedum roof to its cruciform shape to maximise daylight and natural ventilation – minimises environmental impact while providing high-quality, multi-functional office spaces, and a dramatic outline. Equally important in the design process was the working environment which is attractive, light and relaxed.

Located on a previously greenfield site on the Aykley Heads estate north of Durham city centre, the Rivergreen Centre is widely considered to be one of the best examples of a large-scale green office building in the UK.
