Managing Director Peter is the Managing Director and a major equity partner in Rivergreen Developments plc. The company has undertaken many award-winning commercial and residential developments throughout the North East of England and is well known for its contribution to the regeneration of the region with projects undertaken in several disadvantaged areas including Amble, Sunderland, Consett and Hartlepool.
The Rivergreen Centre at Aykley Heads in Durham, now the HQ of Atom bank, received the 2007 RICS Sustainability Project of the Year award as well as RIBA and many other industry awards. It is widely regarded as the best example of a large-scale ‘green’ office building in the UK.
In March 2007, Peter was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award by Constructing Excellence North East. The judges were asked to select an individual considered “truly inspirational in the opinion of the sector peer group”.
Peter is also Managing Director and a major shareholder in Jesmond Dene House, a 40-bedroom boutique hotel in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and St Mary’s Inn, an 11-bedroom gastropub near Morpeth in Northumberland. The hotel opened in September 2005 and was the AA’s Hotel of the Year for 2008–2009.
Peter’s sporting achievements include representing Durham County and England Schoolboys at football. He is a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of County Durham and the Chair of Trustees of the North of England Civic Trust. He is also the High Sheriff in Nomination for Durham.
