The Norman Shaw-designed building, one of the city’s foremost private houses, was turned into a 40-bedroom townhouse hotel set amongst contemporary gardens. Original features of wood panelling, inglenook fireplaces and large mullioned windows - together with eight rooms in a sympathetically designed extension - form the backdrop to an understated modern style.
